Classical Civilisation

Students discover more, examining the political and social structures, art and visual culture, thought, religion and social life. Moreover, they learn in-depth about the cultural interactions of the period through the magnificent visual and material remains. You do not need to have any academic experience of classical civilisations. Our core modules provide an introduction to the history and culture of Greece and Rome and their reception. As you progress through the course, you will encounter more sources and methods, each developing different skills. You will read texts in translation, but you can also try out Greek or Latin and see if it is for you.

No existing knowledge of Greek or Latin required. IB score of 34 is required. For 2021 entry, the application fee is 20 GBP for a single choice, or 26 GBP for more than one choice. This program only accepts candidates who have completed 12 years of school education. Requirements may differ depending on the country you are located in. Otherwise, you are advised to complete 1 year of Bachelor's degree in your country or choose between International Foundation and International Year One programs.
