French Studies

Students can take modules in: translation and interpreting, linguistics, art, theatre and photography, cinema, history and culture, politics and literature from around the Francophone world. Students live the life and culture of France or a French speaking country for yourself in year three. This exciting experience develops your communication skills, builds your confidence and helps you stand out to future employers. You can teach English in a School or work anywhere in the Francophone world. Or you can study at one of our partner universities, including Guadeloupe, La Reunion and Paris. We also have a dedicated French-speaking year abroad officer.



IB of 32, including 5 in French at Higher Level or 6 at Standard Level is required. For 2021 entry, the application fee is 20 GBP for a single choice, or 26 GBP for more than one choice. This program only accepts candidates who have completed 12 years of school education. Requirements may differ depending on the country you are located in. Otherwise, you are advised to complete 1 year of Bachelor's degree in your country or choose between International Foundation and International Year One programs.
