The overall objective of the graduate programs in the department is to conduct fundamental research in industrial engineering and operations research in accordance with scientific and technological developments, and to provide the students with a strong analytical basis for advanced theoretical work or for development of new approaches to applications. All applicants are required to have a B.S. degree in industrial engineering, or in a related field of science or engineering. Students with a B.S. degree in areas other than industrial engineering may be requested to take several undergraduate courses in the field to acquire the necessary background. Evaluation of applicants is based on their ALES (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü Eğitimi Giriş Sınavı - Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination) scores, past academic records, reference letters and an interview.

IELTS required - 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each section. (IELTS score sheet should be sent directly from the test center to Bilkent University)
