Year(s)
Smart Computing
Computer Science & IT / Computing
Bachelor of Science
You’ll start by gaining a solid foundation in the different areas of computing used in building smart systems. This includes fundamental programming skills, database design, hardware, software architectures, cloud computing and networking concepts. You'll then put this knowledge into practice through group projects in your second year. For example, you could be using Raspberry Pis to gather real data, which is stored in a cloud-based infrastructure and visualised through web-based interfaces to connect technologies across software and hardware. Throughout the course, you’ll work with real clients on projects that allow you to apply the technical skills you’ll learn, preparing you for work on IoT and smart device projects. Working on group projects will provide you with opportunities to develop your project management skills and apply industry standard techniques.
During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.
